THE HOLIDAY THAT WASN’T, PART VI

5 MAY, 16.00 HOURS

No stopovers today so a leisurely day on board. At first I think it will be difficult to fill the day but a book, some cryptic crosswords, chats with various combinations of agreeable passengers (it is always fascinating to hear of lives in other parts of the world) and a late-afternoon art class – and the day flows by as the ship glides across the nautical miles.

Today the kitchen crew are putting on the outdoor buffet on the deck of the Tropical Bar. They go to an amazing amount of trouble with the presentation, it’s almost a shame to destroy the watermelon sculpture and the whole baked salmon, not to mention the array of mouth-watering deserts.
